Understanding Your Kids and Use Of Social Media

Parents are scared of the excessive use of social media by their children. Unfortunately, there is no straightforward solution to resolve this problem. It seems apparent that social media has penetrated into our professional and personal lives to a significant extent and we are also experiencing its consequences on daily basis.
Perhaps we need to devise a strategy and to start seeing things from a different direction/angle. Since, we cannot stop technology, nor the use of social media, hence we should have a strategy to take the bull by its horns.

We have to devise certain rules in our homes to channelize the time and energy spent on social media. Some of these include:
  • Plan a time table for the use of internet
  • Spend more time together especially time of taking meals
  • Put all devices on silent or switch off at night time
  • Avoid using phones while driving, or taking time out with family
  • Arrange and prefer one to one meetings with your children in evenings to discuss and share your whole day problems, successes, stories etc prefer listening more than speaking
Understanding your children better and helping them out to overcome common problems is to become their best friends, instead of being authoritative. Discuss and communicate openly and consult them too. Change their perspective towards life from avoiding personal relationships towards valuing personal lives of people around them.

HAPPY PARENTING! 👪

Parenting Styles

Parenting styles have significant impact on your child's behaviors and attitudes. Effective parenting is all about shared responsibility, mutual trust and understanding among all the family members. Family the foundation unit of each society, just like a brick in the construction of a house.

Children are the true picture of their parents personality. They follow whatever their parents say and do. Therefore, it is highly important to speak carefully in front of your children and prefer to model respectful and responsible behaviors in your children's presence. Role modeling is the solution of day to day problems.

Always understand your children by communicating with them, find out about their interests. Discover their hidden talents and provide them appropriate opportunities to grow and polish their talent and skills. For example, if your child has talent of drawing or painting do allow them to participate in such activities which could help and guide them to improve.

This will eventually boost children's self-confidence, their trust in their parents and transform them into balanced personalities.
